Burial(11):
Louisa Baumgardner lies in an unmarked grave, probably beside her husband John, in the old Barboursville Town Cemetery in Barboursville, Cabell Co., WV.  There are several unmarked graves in a row located only a few feet from the marked grave of Hal Baumgardner, who was a grandson. It is my belief that these are the unknown burial places of John Baumgardner, Louisa Baumgardner, and Charles Albert Baumgardner. Other family member buried in this cemetery may also be located there as more than three unmarked graves are in this row.  -Candie Freeman, added Dec 17, 1999.  General: Middle name may have also been Catherine.

CABELL RECORD OBITUARY on Genconnect Deaths
J. B. Baumgardner, familiarly called "Fatty," the venerable hotel-keeper of Barboursville, died last Friday evening and the remains were interred Sunday, an immense concourse of people following the remains to their last resting place. Mr. Baumgardner was about seventy-five years of age, and came to this region from Wythe county, Virginia. He was in good circumstances at one time and was one of the most liberal hearted men. He was a witty old gentleman and always had a good word and a joke for his visitors. During the war he acted as sheriff of the county and served some time in the Federal army. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss. Rev. John Martin came down from East Bank to deliver the funeral sermon. Mr. Baumgardner will be greatly missed at the ex-county seat, where he had been a prominent figure for half a century.
