My parents were Malinda Martha Coleman and David Ray Stone.
James and Mary Elizabeth lived in Chelyan, Kanawha County, West Virginia, or that area all their lives. Their children lived in the area - several, including my parents, moving to Charleston, West Virginia.
James, as a minister, married several of his children. All these children grew up to be good people - well respected. Malinda (Lynn) was a "school mar'm" William was a deputy sheriff and also worked for the state Police; Andrew Jackson (Jack) was a long-time and beloved policeman in Charleston (known as Daddy Coleman to many school children.) George and Nate both - I believe - worked in the mines.
James' brother, John Parks Coleman was also a Civil War veteran but he served in the Kentucky Regulars.
The family belonged to the First Baptist Church, Chelyan, where James and Mary lived. James was at one time a saltworker at Malden, and a farmer. He was also a Baptist preacher. He belonged to GAR Chapter #6, Blundon Lodge, Post #73.
