William Thomas Goodall was born June 1834, in Orange Co., VA, the son of Fountain Goodall and Margaret "Peggy" Seal.  He died 13 May 1911, Mason County, WV, and is buried in Buckle Cemetery.  William's father, Fountain Goodall, was a soldier in the War of 1812.

According to the Company Descriptive Book of Co.E, 13th Reg't W.Va. Infantry, he enlisted on 15 September 1862, at Pt. Pleasant, WV, by J.A. Martin, for a 3 year term.  He was 28 years of age, height 5' 8", complexion was dark, eyes dark, hair dark.  It states that he was born in Kanawha, VA, and his occupation was a farmer.  He served as a teamster during the war.

I have copies of 18 of the Company Muster Rolls with the name William T. Goodall on them, where he was present.  At the Muster-out Roll dated June 22, 1865, Wheeling, WV, under remarks on the card it says:  "name does not appear on original Muster-in Roll of Co. - has been serving with the Co. since organization; answered to the name of James C. Blair at the time of Muster-in by order of Capt John D. Carter and received the advance bounty under that name".

William Thomas Goodall married Virginia Teass 11 January 1855, at Chestnut Hill, Monroe County, (W)VA.  Virginia was the daughter of John Teass and Malinda (McCaleb), and was born in Kanawha Co., VA.  They had the following children:

1.  Mary A. Goodall, born 20 Aug 1857, Monroe County, (W)VA, and she died 20 December 1857, Monroe County, WV.

2.  Malinda Teays Goodall, born 11 January 1858, Monroe County, WV, and she died 15 July 1938, Huntington, Cabell County, WV.  She married James Gordon Steele, the son of Thomas R. Steele and Nancy Massey on 25 September 1879, in Gallia County, OH.  Malinda and Jim had the following children and they were all born in Mason County, WV:  Clarence E., 21 January 1881;  Florence Rosalie, 4 February 1882; William Elliott, 10 June 1884;  Charles Grover, 6 October 1886; and Thomas Elman, 1 February 1891.

3.  James Bennett "Ben" Goodall, born 25 March 1859, Monroe County, WV, married Rachel Colvin on 28 July 1882, in Mason County, WV. He died 6 Mar 1929, Newton, Harvey Co., KS

4. Sarah Hunter Goodall, born 8 December 1862, Mason County, WV.  She died 10 Sept 1921, East Liverpool, Columbiana
County, OH.    She married Perry D. McCallister on 9 Nov 1886, in Mason County, WV.

5. William T. Goodall, born 5 December unknown year, died 12 September unknown year

6.  John Fountain Goodall, born November 1869. (He probably died in Kansas or in the mid-west)

7.  Elizabeth T. Goodall, born September unknown year, died 23 March unknown year

8.  Alonzo Cushing "Cush" Goodall, born 22 Dec 1873, in WV. He was married 4 times.  #1. was Georgia Anne Monroe on 10 July 1898, Mason Co., WV, #2. was Elizabeth Porter on 16 Feb 1904, Gallia Co., OH,  #3. was Sarah Rowley, #4 was Edna Butcher Stewart on 5 Aug 1929.  Alonzo died 3 Mar 1941, Ripley Hollow, Gallia Co., OH.
