William was the son of  William KNAPP &  Elmira BUCK.  He was born March 11, 1830 in Leon, Mason Co., WV, died December 24, 1927, in Waterloo, Mason Co., WV.  He married first MARY A. SMITH, December 05, 1854, in Mason Co., WV, daughter of ISAAC SMITH and RACHEL MCGUIRE.  Mary was born Abt. 1837, and died June 08, 1865.  William married second LUCINDA HERSMAN, April 14, 1869, in Mason Co., WV.  Lucinda was born January 04, 1848, and died August 31, 1903.  Both William and his second wife, Lucinda, are buried in Smith Church Cem., Mason Co., WV
