Mark G. Sayre was born May 31, 1830, in Jackson Co, West Virginia, the son of Ezekial & Hannah Gilman Sayre.  He was a farmer and owned 300 acres in Mason County, West Virginia.  He married Mary Charlotte Parsons in Jackson County on March 11, 1852.  Mary was born in 1834, the daughter of John & Sarah Milider Parsons.  He was also the brother of Hiram Sayre, Co. F, 13th WVI.  Mark died in 1927 and both he and Mary are buried in Kimberling-Sayre Cemetery, Union District, Mason County, West Virginia.
