William Perry White
Co. F, 13th WVI

William Perry White was born near Clendenin, Kanawha County, West Virginia on April 2, 1843, the son of John Preston and Mary (Hays) White.  He enlisted on the September 2, 1862.  He was mustered into service by Lieut. R.R. Crawford, on October 9, 1862, at Point Pleasant, West Virginia.  He attained the rank of Corporal on May 18, 1865, and was honorably discharged at Wheeling, West Virginia, on the June 22, 1865, by Lieut. William D. Fuller.  His Captains were Albert F. McCown and Timothy Russell.

His personal description at enlistment was, height, 5 feet 7 inches; complexion, fair; color of eyes, grey; color of hair, light.

He married Saphronia Hayes, daughter of  William and Mary (Young) Hayes, on Sept. 19, 1865.  Saphronia was born February 14, 1839, and died October 6, 1901.  William Perry White married 2nd, Alice M. Huffman of Kanawha County, West Virginia, on Sept.17, 1903.  There were no children from this marriage.

William Perry White is buried in Hayes Cemetery, near Clendenin, West Virginia.  His monument states his death date as February 13, 1921.  His pension papers and the book, "White Family Records," state the death date as Feb. 13, 1922.
